Mega Trek Day 2: Awed by the Alluring Caves and Falls in Alegria Cebu

November 29, 2015.It was rainy Sunday morning that we arrived at Mantalungon public market from Kandungaw peak. After several minutes, we headed our way to Alegria for more adventure.

Alegria may not have stunning beaches but it stands out as a haven of adventures of the undiscovered wonders from the awe-inspiring Cambusay and Salay cave to unspoiled falls (Cambais) hidden on their mountains. There are also other places there that are yet to be explored.

At the Kandungaw campsite

Just like any other town in south Cebu, the people here lived a simple life away from the hustle and bustle of the big city. Here are some of the views going to Cambusay cave.

CAMBUSAY CAVE

Honestly, I have that little fear navigating dark tunnel just like the Kandungaw cave that we explore on the first day. At some point I did not really appreciate the view inside because it’s hard to view what’s really in front of me. But Cambusay proven my belief that it is not always right.

It has a huge opening which let the beauty inside exudes because of the light. It has a huge chamber with stalactites flowing down like fossilized waterfall.

The cave entrance

SALAY CAVE

It takes 20-30 minutes trek from Cambusay cave. But unfortunately, we’re unable to explore because for some reasons, it is prohibited by that time. Here are some of the views going back from where we left our backpacks.

CAMBAIS FALLS
It is one of the top pick of waterfall to visit in the province. The scenic view while we trek going to the falls will overflow compared to the burden of your feet and the weight of the bags that we’re carrying.
Entrance going to the falls

From the entrance, it take approximately 15-30 minutes. There would be registration and a little entrance fee of which I forgot how much. My bad! Hmmmp. It’s been few months back and I forgot the nitty gritty details. Here are some snapshots of our late lunch and bath at the falls.

And we bid goodbye to those who have their 2 days trek and we proceed on our next day of adventure to Mt. Lanaya. 🙂
