Mega Trek Day 1: Exploring Kandungaw Peak and Cave

November 28, 2015. Kandungaw peak is one of the stunning peak situated in Brgy. Maloray of Dalaguete Cebu. Going there is almost the same route as going to Osmeña peak in Mantalungon Dalaguete Cebu.

To catch the 8AM or 9AM bus, the group decided to meet @ 8AM in Caltext station terminal where the buses going to Matalungon is. However, the buses left as soon as it is full of passenger. The 8AM bus already left @ 7:35AM. Luckily, the first group was able to catch that trip. I arrived there at 7:45 and noticed that the 9AM bus is almost full and will left any time soon. Other members of the group is still on the way. I reserved few seats for us but decided to just wait for the next bus, which is 10AM.

It takes 4hrs to travel from Cebu City to Mantalungon market. Ohh well, the first group have to wait for us there. 😛

We arrived at the market by 2PM. Had our quick lunch and then proceed to our adventure. We took a motorcycle for Php 50.00 per person going to the jump off.

At the jump-off

The trek started with an ascent of 250 man-made stairs.

It takes 2-3hrs to reach the summit.

Kandaungaw cave is situated few meters descent from the peak. We left our backpacks at the small nipa hut at the peak and check out the cave.

After our quick adventure inside, we then descended going to the campsite since it’s almost dark and it’s almost 0 visibility due to the thick fog.
