Funny One More Climb: Mt. Babag – Bocaue Peak – BonBon Traverse

August 15-16, 2015. We normally have just one trek in a month. But since we will have our first major climb in Mt. Talinis in Negros a week after, the club organized a practice trek near the city as a preparation.

This time, it’s a trek with NCR Trekkers, guest and our guide for Talinis (Neo and Tope) with the members of tribu HUBO.

The usual Pinoy time still prevails. We left Guadalupe church at around 9:30AM already – Maggie was there at the meeting place 7:30AM (Hehe. Sorry mags.). We started the trek  after a short prayer around 10AM.

Crossing the bridge
On our way to the first RCPI tower

When we’re about the take our lunch, the rain can’t hold on and suddenly pours. Wew. Best lunch ever. We had a free soup. Haha.

A backhoe found after the 5th tower. How come?

After that fifth tower, the guide said that the trail will not be as difficult as going to the fifth tower. But due to the vegetation, we kinda lost a bit and have to climb the slope trail again. Well, getting lost is always part of the adventure. 🙂

There is still good upon getting lost. We found a bugnay tree and we tasted its fruit.

Steep and  kinda difficult trail

Bocaue peak is small and can only accommodate few number of campers. It is just suited for us since half of the trekkers prefer for a day trek only. After resting and taking pictures, the other half of the trekkers have to start their hike back to the city. We then began pitching our tents. There were only a total of 11 people decided to camp.

Breathtaking view

FYI. Bocaue peak had it’s 360 degrees view.

While preparing dinner, our guide (Tope and Neo) decide to go down to buy some drinks. For us, we’re enjoying the company of each other ’til our stomach get hurts with the unending jokes. Haha.

Preparing dinner over chikkas and a spice of jokes

After dinner, we had our socials @ AJ’s tent since we don’t have trapal to be used outside. The socials includes heads up for Talinis participants and the usual meet and greet – name, reason for climbing, experience on climbing, status. In here, my SAD (Single, Available, Desirable) status was coined. Haha. That was later changed to ‘Desperate’ and ‘Deal Breaker’ the day after. Hahaha. We really had a fun on playing monopoly that I slept at around 12 midnight already.

Sun-up coz we woke up late
A child scolded by her dad? Haha

Finally arrived at Bonbon public market!
